Choosing between stainless steel and brass isn't just a material decision. It's a statement about how you want to move through the world. Both materials, Stainless Steel and Brass, speak of durability, of craft, but they speak different languages. This article helps you understand which one fits your life.

Two Materials, Two Characters

Stainless steel is cool, precise, timeless. Brass is warm, alive, carrying history. Both are industrial materials: raw, honest, unadorned. That's exactly why I work with them at ASEL RAKHAT.

The difference isn't only visual. It's in how the piece ages. How it feels against the skin. What story it tells over time.

Stainless Steel - Quiet Strength

Stainless steel is the material that demands nothing. It endures. Rain, sweat, saltwater, it doesn't react.

That's its strength and its statement.

Who chooses stainless steel:

  • Wears jewelry daily without thinking about it

  • Seeks reliability over change

  • Has sensitive skin or metal allergies, stainless steel is hypoallergenic

  • Prefers the cool silver tone that complements minimalist outfits

The Everyday Bracelet is a good example: industrial in form, elegant in presence. It makes no noise, it simply is.

Brass - Warmth with History

Brass oxidizes. It develops a patina, a living surface that ages alongside you. This isn't a flaw. It's the nature of the material.

A brass piece changes. It absorbs traces. It becomes more personal the longer you wear it. Some people polish it regularly to restore the warm gold tone, that's possible. Others let the patina deepen. Both choices are right.

Who chooses brass:

  • Appreciates warmth, the gold-like tne, without gold

  • Values objects that carry visible history

  • Engages mindfully with their jewelry

  • Has no copper sensitivity (brass contains copper and zinc)

Brass has a long history in architecture and craft. Door fittings, instruments, ship components, brass has always been a material with weight. You carry that.

Care: What Both Materials Need

Stainless steel: Minimal care required. Wipe with a soft cloth. For heavier dirt, mild dish soap and lukewarm water. No chemicals, no abrasives.

Brass: Polish regularly with a soft cloth to keep the surface fresh. To reset the natural patina, use a paste of lemon juice and salt, apply briefly, rinse, dry. More on jewelry care here.

Neither material should be stored in standing water long-term. Both benefit from being dried after wearing.

Conclusion - Your Material, Your Choice

There is no wrong choice. There is only the right one for you.

Stainless steel if you seek permanence. Brass if you seek life. Both are handcrafted in Berlin-Mitte. Both are limited edition. Both come with a certificate of authenticity, because every piece is an original.

Decide by feeling. Or get both.
